System.Configuration reference

I was writing a .NET console program but when trying to get a configuration string I could not get it to recognize the ConfigurationManager class even though I had put this in my program:

using System.Configuration;

Turns out I had to add System.Configuration as a reference in the project.  Heh.


Debug SSIS Script Component

If you need to debug C# code in a SSIS Script Component inside a Data Flow, you’ll be dismayed that the breakpoints won’t work. You’ll need to run DebugView and put a line like this in your code:

System.Diagnostics.Trace.Write( “Here’s my debug message!” );

sp_help Keyboard Shortcut in SSMS

In Sql Server Management Studio you can highlight an entity such as a table name, view, function, etc. then press [ALT]-F1 to see details.   It’s the same as typing

sp_help tablename

This shortcut is configured in Tools => Options => Environment => Keyboard
